Apparently people want stupid fucking mysteries of the week and shitty characters that stay as static as possible. I think this is why most dramas that stay on the air don't get really good until the second season or so. The first season does a bunch of "X of the week" stories with a few hints of ongoing plot to build up an audience before they finally say, "Ok, now here's the story we really wanted to tell you."

I sooooooo hate Showbox Sodo. i don’t even mind going to grownup shows normally but that venues sucks rocks.

On a more positive note, I’m so happy to know someone else who likes the Unusuals. I was watching it faithfully when it was airing and was so sad (but unsurprised) when it got canned.

*applauds* As someone who’s spent quite a while researching the so-called Dark Ages, I know that most of the connotations of the of the term barbarian are bollocks. Just because they didn’t build the same sort of things the Romans did or write much down doesn’t mean that they were stupid, they just had a different set of priorities. Unfortuately the ones who did write things down generally didn’t like them very much, usually because the ‘barbarians’ kept kicking their rears. It probably wouldn’t be too inacurate to say that ‘barbarian’ is code for ‘someone who made the Romans’ lives difficult’ (incidently, apparently the actual origin of the word just meant something along the lines of ‘someone who doesn’t speak Greek’).

I can see your logic, but where does that address his willingness to put the boots to someone techniclly in the right who’s exploiting loopholes and to let someone who’s turned to crime out of desperation slide? I’ve never once seen the sort of faceless, “these are the rules, break them at your peril” kind of mentality of authoritarianism, nor do I see him letting the rich kids slide for the good of the state.
